Our History & Brand

When the first Pittsburgh Wine Festival was held at Heinz Field in May of 2002, our mission was simple: Bring the world of wine to the people of Pittsburgh by hosting a world-class, annual wine tasting event. Commonly known as a “shot-and-a-beer” town, it was unclear if such an event would work in Pittsburgh. However, with sell-out attendance each year, the Pittsburgh Wine Festival has thrived and become an annual tradition for many. Now the premier wine event in the Pittsburgh region, we are proudly celebrating our 17th annual event at Heinz Field in May for the 2019 Pittsburgh Wine Festival.

Featuring the craftsmanship of the top wine-makers worldwide, our unique event curates a selection of fine wines that allow guests to enjoy an unmatched tasting experience. In partnership with Pennsylvania’s Fine Wine & Good Spirits, the Pittsburgh Wine Festival captures a wine culture that is worldly, yet part of Pittsburgh.

Our City

Traditionally known as the “city of steel”, Pittsburgh has undergone incredible changes over the past fifteen years.  The city’s image has transformed from that of ‘the former industrial hub’ into ‘one of America’s most livable cities.’ A culturally vibrant metropolis, Pittsburgh boasts internationally acclaimed universities, thriving technology and healthcare industries, and neighborhoods that are a growing destination for millennials.

Western Pennsylvania now features an impressive, diverse selection of new restaurants, a growing cultural district, and an arts scene with dozens of new events that have redefined Pittsburgh. Heinz Field, the venue for the Pittsburgh Wine Festival, is located on the city’s North Shore along with PNC Park and Three Rivers Casino. This neighborhood overlooks Point State Park, and has evolved and grown since the festival’s inception. Pittsburgh Wine Festival is proud to be a part of this city’s ongoing development.

Our Charities

Charitable giving is an important part of our mission for 2019. We have historically contributed to multiple programs through UPMC, and with our 2019 charitable partner, Pittsburgh Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases (PIND), we expect to raise thousands of dollars for groundbreaking research through a portion of ticket-sales proceeds and a charity auction at the event.

This method of giving is also in place for the Pittsburgh Whiskey Festival, a part of our family of brands. This annual event partners with the First Tee of Pittsburgh, a national organization founded by Arnold Palmer that provides affordable resources for children to play golf.

Since its conception in 2002, sponsor support has helped to make the Pittsburgh Wine Festival a tasting experience that rivals the most well-regarded wine events in the country. We are thrilled to continually forge new relationships and work closely with sponsors and community leaders. For information about sponsorship options, email events@pittsburghwinefestival.com.
