It has been said that wine is Mario Andretti's second passion. He doesn't actually remember the moment he fell in love with wine; it just happened over a period of time. It began while growing up in Italy where wine is part of every-day life.
When he was 15 years old, his family came to the United States. There was a dirt track nearby and his interest almost immediately was purely racing. At the end of 1994, after years of measuring success in hundredths of a second, Mario retired from racing and turned his attention to the slow art of making wine. But first he assembled the finest team of experts he could find, including one of the country's most respected winemakers, Bob Pepi. Established in 1996, the Andretti Winery is committed to the same high standard of excellence that won Mario his driving championships. The company trades Over-The-Counter under the symbol "vine."
