Marchesi De Frescobaldi
Inspired by the elegance and style of their signature wine, Luce, the Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi families launched Lucente in 1995, as the second wine of their partnership. Lucente (pronounced lu-CHEN-tay) is a blend of the best Sangiovese and Merlot grapes from Tuscany's finest vineyards to create a wine that uniquely expresses this region.
The Frescobaldi family playes a leading role in promoting the use of French grape varieties in Tuscany. As early as 1855 they were planting Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in their vineyard estates, the first Tuscan winegrowers to do so. Today these varieties add significant complexity and finesse to the native Sangiovese. In the spirit of continuing progress and improvement, the two families continue to explore the contribution and improvement of French grape varieties grown in diverse and less well-known areas of Tuscany.
